简介 | This gene encodes a member of the regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) family. This protein is a GTPase-activating protein that inhibits G-protein-mediated signal transduction. Alternative splicing and the use of alternative promoters results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Long isoforms are largely cytosolic and plasma membrane-associated with a function in Wnt signaling and in the epithelial mesenchymal transition, while shorter N-terminally-truncated isoforms can be nuclear. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013] Diseases associated with RGS3 include Non-Syndromic X-Linked Intellectual Disability. Among its related pathways are GPCR downstream signalling and EphB-EphrinB Signaling. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include GTPase activator activity. An important paralog of this gene is RGS12. Down-regulates signaling from heterotrimeric G-proteins by increasing the GTPase activity of the alpha subunits, thereby driving them into their inactive GDP-bound form. Down-regulates G-protein-mediated release of inositol phosphates and activation of MAP kinases. negative regulator of G protein signaling 3,functioning as GTPase-activating protein for G protein alpha i and q subunits, expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, lung and other tissues,C elegans EGL-10 and yeast SST2 homolog Cytoplasm {ECO:0000269 PubMed:9858594}5 Nucleus {ECO:0000269 PubMed:10749886}5 Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein {ECO:0000269 PubMed:9858594} Note: Long isoforms are cytoplasmic and associated with the plasma membrane (PubMed:9858594).
