简介 | The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) family. PI3-kinases play roles in signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation, oncogenic transformation, cell survival, cell migration, and intracellular protein trafficking. This protein contains a lipid kinase catalytic domain as well as a C-terminal C2 domain, a characteristic of class II PI3-kinases. C2 domains act as calcium-dependent phospholipid binding motifs that mediate translocation of proteins to membranes, and may also mediate protein-protein interactions. This gene may play a role in several diseases, including type II diabetes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2014] Diseases associated with PIK3C2G include Spermatogenic Failure 17 and Pancreatic Cancer. Among its related pathways are PI Metabolism and NF-kappaB Pathway. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include transferase activity, transferring phosphorus-containing groups and kinase activity. An important paralog of this gene is PIK3C2A. Generates phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PtdIns3P) and phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate (PtdIns(3,4)P2) that act as second messengers (By similarity). May play a role in SDF1A-stimulated chemotaxis (By similarity). phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase class 2,gamma polypeptide, expressed in normal breast, liver, prostate and other tissues Cell Membrane; Peripheral membrane protein {ECO:0000250 UniProtKB:O70167}4 cytosol 5 |
